Rare chance to put a genuine progressive in Congress!
The Coalition for Grassroots Progress is very pleased to announce that we have endorsed Jamie Raskin’s campaign for an open seat in the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland.
Norman Solomon is so encouraged by the prospect of Jamie Raskin in Congress that he recently wrote a letter calling Jamie “a rare combination” and urging support for his campaign from around the country.
“Jamie is an activist with a proven record as a state senator in the Maryland legislature,” Norman wrote. “He’s got a sense of humor, but when it comes to social change he doesn’t kid around!”
“Routinely, when congressional seats open up, the genuine progressive candidates can’t win and the candidates who can win aren’t really progressives. Jamie Raskin is a rare combination; after decades of fighting for progressive change, he now has huge momentum in a race for Congress. No wonder corporate Democrats are eager to block him.”
Jamie’s background is awesome and inspiring. We need him in Congress.
As Norman wrote: “Jamie is determined to address the growing income inequality that has left millions of Americans behind in ‘the recovery.’ I’m confident that in Congress he’d fight to raise the minimum wage and create good-paying jobs for the long haul.
“I don’t need to tell you about the grim trends that are now all too apparent in this country, with many ominous clouds on the horizon as the 2016 elections approach. The campaign to elect Jamie to the House of Representatives is a rare bright spot.”
The Maryland Primary is April 26, 2016, so there’s not much time to lose! Make a contribution of any amount here to Jamie Raskin’s campaign for Congress.
